AIC C 012/2007 - Effective 14 Nov 2007
CERTIFICATES OF AIRWORTHINESS AND AIRWORTHINESS REVIEW

INTRODUCTION

By 28 September 2008, all aircraft subject to regulation under European Commission Regulations must be issued with a non-expiring Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) supported by an Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC). To prepare for this transition the DCA has arranged that all affected aircraft have a Certificate of Airworthiness that expires between 28th of September 2007 and 27th of September 2008. The transition to a non-expiring C of A and an ARC will take place on application for renewal. Aircraft coming into the Cyprus Register after the 28th of September 2007 will be issued with a non-expiring C of A and an ARC upon satisfactory completion of the necessary inspections.

PROCESS TO BE FOLLOWED DURING THE TRANSITION PERIOD

Between 28/9/07 and 27/9/08, aircraft owners or their representatives must contact the DCA Airworthiness Section to obtain the necessary application forms for C of A initial issue or renewal. After full completion and submission of these forms the Airworthiness Section will carry out an airworthiness review as per paragraph M.A.710 of EC Regulation 2042/2003. Upon satisfactory completion of this review the DCA will issue a non-expiring C of A and an ARC with a validity of one year.

PROCESS TO BE FOLLOWED AFTER 28/9/08

The DCA Airworthiness Section will continue to carry out airworthiness reviews for aircraft of 2730 Kg Maximum Take off Mass (MTOM) and below, which are not used for commercial air transport, whenever it is requested by the owner. The same process will be followed as described above.
For aircraft used for commercial air transport and for aircraft of MTOM above 2730 Kg the airworthiness review can only be carried out by an appropriately approved organisation (under Part M, Subparts G and I). This organisation, upon satisfactory completion of the airworthiness review, will either issue an ARC or recommend the issue of an ARC to the Department in accordance with the provisions of Part M.

AIC C07/07, dated 12 February 2007, is hereby cancelled.
