CYPRUS CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT - FOCAL POINT FOR MATTERS RELATING TO THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION (ICAO)

This AIC applies to Authorities, Agencies, Departments and Services within the Republic of Cyprus that deal with Civil Aviation matters.

The purpose of this AIC is to inform all the Authorities, Agencies, Departments and Services in the Republic of Cyprus, involved with matters relating to ICAO, that the Cyprus Civil Aviation Department is defined as the focal point for the coordination of the provisions of the Convention and Annexes of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Authorities, Agencies, Departments and Services under scope are required to act as follows:

The Cyprus Civil Aviation Law (L213/2002) defines the Department of Civil Aviation as the Competent Authority for dealing with Civil Aviation matters. In this respect the Department shall act as the focal point for all ICAO related matters.

The application of the provisions of the Chicago Convention and its nineteen ICAO Annexes requires cooperation and coordination of other Departments /Agencies/ Authorities of the Republic, involved in Civil Aviation activities. Actions, decision making and/or adoption of legislative measures should be taken by these Authorities, Agencies, Departments and Services for ICAO issues related to their activities.

For the purpose of cooperation, coordination for the full implementation of the provisions of the Chicago Convention and its ICAO Annexes the involved Authorities, Agencies, Departments and Services are required to contact the Director of Civil Aviation as follows:
