COSPAS SARSAT ELT (EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER) ACTIVATION PROCEDURE
1. APPLICABILITY
This AIC shall apply to operators interested to carry out ELT test in the Republic of Cyprus.
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this AIC is to establish the procedure to be followed by Operators interested to test ELTs (normal activation or self-test) in the airspace of the Republic of Cyprus.
3. DEFINITIONS
ELT: Emergency Locator Transmitter
Normal activation (Operational): The ELT transmits a distress signal which is received at the JRCC Larnaka.
Test activation (Self-Test): The ELT transmits a distress signal that is NOT distributed to JRCC Larnaka.
4. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this AIC is to establish the procedure of notification of the JRCC Larnaka prior a test of an ELT, in order not to alarm the SAR System of the RoC. For Test activations, no notice is required.
5. REQUIREMENTS
